Happiness comes from hearing what is difficult to hear
Happiness comes from hearing what is difficult to hear. Too bad that most people only hear what they want to hear.
The greatest happiness in my life has been to deal with the things that were not easy to deal with. To hear that my perceptions and beliefs were not based in reality. To recognize my own limitations and by doing so, to focus on what I do best and be as useful as I could be.
When others don’t get challenged I feel bad for them. They think that their view of the world is the only correct one. Or if they don’t always believe they are right, they believe that others are ignorant and they are better than others somehow. How arrogant and ignorant that viewpoint is.
When you admit that you don’t have all the answers, and you don’t always need to be right something wonderful happens. You are ok with looking dumb to others and saying you don’t know. If others think that you always have to have the answer you can easily say that you don’t know everything and feel ok with it. I used to be a perfectionist and when I gave this up, my life was a whole lot more fun.
Its ok to lose jobs, relationships, things. You should never lose the ability to learn and to grow from those experiences. It is a wonderful thing in life when you can take an experience and with reflection not make that same mistake again.
I don’t pretend to know what makes you happy in life. I know that for me, my relationships and the kindness I have shared with others have been the most meaningful. I love being able to share who I am and for others to share who they are with me. Everything else in life seems silly to me.
